Institute of the USA and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ISCRAN) Visits the American Studies Center

On the morning of September 9, 2025, a delegation from the Institute of the USA and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ISCRAN) visited the American Studies Center at Peking University for in-depth exchanges with Chinese experts and scholars.

Prof. Jia Qingguo (Member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee; School of International Studies, Peking University), Prof. Wang Yong (Director of the American Studies Center; School of International Studies, Peking University), Assoc. Prof. (tenured) Niu Ke (Director of the Center for World Modernization Process Studies; Department of History, Peking University), Assoc. Prof. Jie Dalei (Deputy Director of the American Studies Center; School of International Studies, Peking University), and Lecturer Li Shuaiyu (School of International Relations and Diplomocy, Beijing Foreign Studies University) attended the meeting. They held discussions with a nine-member Russian delegation led by Natalia Tsvetkova (Acting Director of ISCRAN), Natalia Sudakova (Deputy Director), and Andrei Evseenko (Deputy Director).

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Wang Yong delivered a welcome speech and introduced the development and research activities of the American Studies Center at Peking University. The Russian participants reviewed the evolution and academic traditions of ISCRAN since its founding. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening academic cooperation and talent exchange.

Subsequently, the two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on multiple topics, including the evolution of globalization and the international order, geopolitical patterns and international security, U.S. domestic politics and foreign strategy. They also exchanged views on jointly addressing global transformations, promoting world peace and stability, and reforming the global governance system.

At the meeting

Participants agreed that the dialogue helped promote exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Russian experts in the fields of international relations and American studies, and expressed expectations for more high-level academic collaborations in the future, contributing to the advancement of the China–Russia strategic partnership.

At the end of the event, the guests posed for a group photo, and Chinese faculty and students accompanied the Russian delegation on a campus tour.
